Certification Renewal
Certification Renewal
Certification is an ongoing commitment that actually begins with passing the exam. The CMCI Board of Governors believes that all CCM's should be actively involved in and committed to the CM profession. To this end they have identified 3 areas for recertification: involvement/commitment in the profession, contribution to the profession and professional development.
CCM Certification renewal is based on the maintenance of your registered status each year and the accumulation of points earned through various activities. Each area or category has its own minimum point requirement. There is a total of 19 points that are required in specific categories as designated and 5 additional points can be selected from the category(s) of your choice. You need a total of 24 points every 3 years.
Recertification Guidelines
· Your initial certification is valid for 5 years; thereafter, you must recertify every 3 years.
· All activities MUST specifically relate to CM.
· Each category has its own minimum point requirement which must be fulfilled for recertification.
· Recertification points can be earned anytime from the date appearing on your CCM certificate.
· No points may carry over from one 3-year period to the next or between categories.
· You may submit your form once you have met the 3-year requirement.
· Recertification forms are retained for 3 years.
· Forms will be sent to you approximately 30 days prior to being due.
· Recertification forms are due by the end of your anniversary month.
Loss of Certification
The CMCI Board of Governors has set the following policy to address the loss of certification because recertification requirements are not met:
CCM\'s who have not acquired sufficient maintenance points to be recertified by the end of their anniversary month; or CCMs who have not paid their annual maintenance fee will be notified in writing that they are suspended from using the CCM designation and will no longer be listed as a CCM in the Registry or other publications until the CCM meets those requirements. After 90 days (from the end of the anniversary month) CCMs who have not met the recertification requirements will be required to:
Pay a reinstatement fee of $75 AND accumulate a total equal to 11 points per year for every year since the original date of certification; OR resubmit to the certification process and successfully meet the criteria for certification by application and examination.
CMCI reserves the right to request supporting information from any candidate seeking re-certification.
