Claims Avoidance and Dispute Management

This Webinar will focus on claims avoidance and dispute management. In particular, it will discuss the importance of record keeping and communication, provide examples of some of the more useful documents, and suggest steps that can be taken to resolve disputes before they become claims. The webinar will also suggest straightforward steps that can be taken to ensure you are in the best possible position should a claim arise. Attendees will gain an understanding of what techniques and practices can be applied and when to apply them in order to resolve disputes or help with the claims management process.

About the speakers: 

Phil Urwin is a planner and scheduler with 20 years of experience in trades, management and project controls. He is an expert in the field of delay and disruption and has acted as both assistant expert and as appointed expert in this field. Phil’s deep understanding of critical path method (CPM) scheduling, coupled with his boots on the ground experience in planning and building projects, provides a solid basis for his expertise in this field. 

Bryan Van Lenten has over 12 years’ experience in structural design of state, local, Federal government, and commercial projects including bridges, marine structures, electric transmission, hospitals, schools, and corporate headquarters. He has worked as an engineer for owners, consultants, and contractors. Bryan brings a wide variety of project experience and knowledge including new design, rehabilitation of existing structures, identifying deficiencies in existing structures, and construction inspection.

Sasha Vigelis is an experienced claims professional with a focus on delay analysis. Sasha specializes in mechanical and electrical engineering, schedule analysis and performance evaluations. As a Construction Claims Analyst, Sasha performs analyses to determine the cause, extent and resulting damages of construction delays. She reviews and utilizes project documentation for creation of as-built narratives, generates expert reports for submission to attorneys and judicial entities and assists with deposition preparation. She collaborates with various members of the project team to perform technical analyses and produce other support materials for complex claims cases in a variety of sectors.
