For all buildings being renovated or constructed, the design should incorporate applicable elements of the Uniform Facilities Criteria, principally UFC 1-200-02, High Performance and Sustainable Building Requirements. The design should also include a comprehensive Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) of the elements of design, using the National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Building Life-Cycle Costing program, and the UFC’s Sustainability Scoresheet to evaluate a variety of energy-efficient and sustainable design choices.

Courtney Bonas - With over ten years of experience, Ms. Bonas specializes in both building energy efficiency as well as measurement and verification (M&V) to support energy performance goals for zero energy verification. Prior to joining KMEA, Ms. Bonas coordinated a team at the California Energy Commission responsible for increasing the compliance and enforcement of the Building Energy Efficiency Standards (BEES) throughout California through active engagement with other state agencies, utilities, building departments, and builders. Ms. Bonas also successfully managed the Los Rios Community College District Smart Grid Project through criteria development, reviewing building specifications for energy code compliance and the ability for systems to meet the design requirements relating to HVAC, lighting, building envelope, indoor air quality, and control systems. Ms. Bonas is a Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Energy Manager (CEM), LEED AP, WELL AP, Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP), Envision Sustainability Professional (ENV SP), Fitwel Ambassador, CARB GHG Verifier, and San Diego Green Building Council Board member.
Crystal Price - Ms. Price is a Licensed professional mechanical engineer with over 25 years of experience in consulting/design – in HVAC, Energy, plumbing, fire protection, and over seven years in MEP construction oversight, including design reachback, HVAC/plumbing operational maintenance, and code enforcement. She is responsible for ensuring that the Company delivers on its client commitments and remains consistent with the Company’s Core Values. A proven innovator and leader, her expertise incorporates extensive operation in AutoCAD MEP and Revit BIM platforms. Ms. Price is a former US Army officer and served at Aberdeen Proving Grounds. As a civilian, she has worked as a mechanical engineer in variety of AE firms and as a college campus staff engineer. Her career stops include the DC region, Florida, New York, Michigan, and Texas.
