Person of the Year Award

Purpose 

The Person of the Year Award is given to a CMAA member who has a record of leadership and service to the program and construction management profession, to the association, and whose contributions have advanced the mission of CMAA:  To promote, support, educate, and develop professionals who lead the delivery of programs and projects within the built environment.   

Eligibility 

  • Nominees must be members in good standing of CMAA. 
  • This award may only go to an individual. 
  • Award recipients may only receive recognition as Person of the Year once.
  • Current members of the CMAA Board of Directors and CMCI Board of Governors are not eligible.  

Criteria 

Part I: Any nominee must have a record of achievement and contribution in at least three of the following areas: 

  • A record as an industry leader who leverages leadership skills, technological innovations, digital tools, trends, and resiliency best practices to pave the way for innovative and successful project execution. 

  • A record of contributions to CMAA’s goal to become the trusted source of knowledge and best practices in program and construction management. 

  • A record of accomplishment in promoting, developing, and educating professionals to build and sustain teams and work cultures that are diverse, welcoming, and inclusive.  

  • A record of contributions to expanding the program and construction management narrative and telling the stories of the roles, opportunities, breadth, and values of the profession.  

  • A record of contributions to buildings brand awareness of CMAA resources and the program and construction management professionals who steward the entire project/program lifecycle. 

  • A record of engagement with other industry groups or owners and owner organizations. 

Part II: All nominees must have a record of achievement in the following two areas: 

  • Advocacy for the value of CMCI credentials.  

  • Contributions to the growth and development of CMAA and advancing CMAA’s vision and mission. 

Nomination Materials 

  • A 2,000-word narrative that describes how the individual meets both groups of criteria listed above. Be specific and provide examples.  

  • Four letters of support: 

  • One from the nominator submitting and supporting the nomination 

  • Three from CMAA members in good standing with knowledge of the nominee. 

Nominations Process  

Nominations may be submitted by any CMAA member in good standing.  The nominating individual may be representing a group, i.e. CMAA Chapter, but only one nominating individual may be listed.  Nominations must be submitted through the CMAA Individual Awards Portal and may be revised or updated until Monday, April 24, 2023, at 11:59 p.m. EDT. Incomplete submissions, or those not following the submission instructions cannot be included for consideration.  

 

Selection Process  

The Selection Committee consists of members of CMAA’s Executive Committee. Upon selection, CMAA will notify the recipient of the award and they will be recognized at CMAA’s fall conference.
