With a $256 million budget, the project included a new 255,000-sq. ft., six-level addition to the existing campus, structured to accept three future levels. The new clinical space included an 18-room surgery department, pre/post-op, support space, and two floors of patient bed space. Jacobs developed key planning indicators to right size the number of rooms for each service line to drive the master planning process. The Project Team engaged a simulation consultant to study the travel times for surgical cases to determine risks to patients, clinical checkpoints, and needs while using a vertical transportation system for pre/post-op and surgery. Evaluations provided elevator sizing for emergency supplies and support services along the route for patient transportation.
