The Diversity Impact

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, 88% of the Construction industry is White, compared to the 78% in the overall workforce. A mere 6% of the Construction industry is made up of African Americans, despite being 12% of the overall workforce. Estimates show that by 2045, whites will be less than 50% of the workforce, but how will the CM profession adapt to these changing demographics and build facilities for this changing population? Construction management companies need to adapt to these changes, but how? This is a question plaguing many industry leaders and companies. After George Floyd's death in the summer of 2020, one CM firm decided to help close this racial gap. This panel discussion will help illustrate how one company is taking action to help young African American students gain better access to our profession using the platform of CMAA and how your company can do something similar.

The Future of Project Financing

While you are thinking about pursuing projects, owners are thinking about how to pay for them, and the old ways of doing business are fast being overtaken by innovation in capital creation and asset management. The pandemic's effect on the availability of public funding, coupled with significant changes in financing structures for private projects, is already changing how capital projects are financed. In the Town Hall, CMAA brings together a panel of experts to talk about trends for asset management and monetization, infrastructure building, private equity investment, and other topics related to project finance.
