Reasonable Activity Ties Used to Develop Project Networks

Aside from the four main activity relationship types of finish-to-start (FS), start-to-start (SS), finish-to-finish (FF), and start-to-finish (SF), activity relationships can also be categorized based on the nature of relationships between project activities. Activity relationship (i.e., activity ties) can be categorized into the three main types of mandatory, discretionary, and resource relationships. These relationships help a project scheduler analyze and properly represent how project activities may be interrelated. This webinar describes the main types of activity ties and discusses the implications of using discretionary relationships in developing project schedules.
