The merger of American Airlines and USAir lead Massport to the realization that they needed to renovate 70,000 square-feet of existing terminal space and construct an additional 75,000 sf to meet customer/traveller needs. These renovations included the expansion and reorganization of ticketing counters and kiosks; gate modifications to better accommodate airline requirements; an improved baggage handling area; reconfigured concession locations and organization and passenger experience enhancements including improved aesthetics, specialty seating and wayfinding. Tour participants will get to see how this complex phased construction in the center of an operating airport terminal came to fruition.

Boston Public Library - Central Library Renovation

Anchoring one of Boston’s most well-known areas - the Avenue of the Arts— the City's Public Library was in need of a transformation. The resulting 156,000-square-foot renovation enables a much wider spectrum of the city’s populace to further enjoy one of Boston’s true treasures. The renovation called for a state of the art lecture hall, business library and innovation center, a new children’s library, WGBH satellite news bureau and studio, a café, and a hi-tech commuinty learning center. Tour participants will get a first-hand account of complex modifications to the existing structure, innovative modifications to a very tight site and challenging construction logistics – including closing twice for the Boston Marathon finish line.
