Progressive Design-Build

This session will educate CMs and owners on the evolution of the progressive design-build approach, the primary differences from the traditional design-build approach, options in structuring progressive design-build, and pros and cons related to the traditional approach. With this information, owners and CMs can make informed decisions tailored to their needs and environment. The key differences are the amount of effort expended by owners in preparing criteria documents; effort expended by the industry in developing technical and cost proposal pre-selection; more collaborative approach to develop program and design between owner and D-B entity; point in time when contract amount is determined; approach to selecting subcontractors; and potential off-ramp of selected D-B and procurement using alternate method. Explore the pros & cons of the respective D-B approaches, resources required, owner involvement, and impact of market competition.
