Please join us for our tour of the new East County Library! Learn more about the project below:
The new East County Library will be a 95,000-square-foot, two-story landmark serving nearly 40% of the county’s residents. Designed as a vibrant community hub, it will feature expansive book collections and program areas; a flexible auditorium for cultural events and celebrations; dedicated spaces for children and teens, including an indoor-outdoor play area; quiet reading zones; collaborative workspaces; and much more. Scheduled to be complete spring 2026.
Drawing inspiration from Native architecture, the design is deeply rooted in its surroundings through the use of local, natural materials. The structure showcases mass timber from column to roofline, complemented by warm wood finishes throughout—paneled walls, storefronts, and balustrades—that create a welcoming, connected sense of place. A linear, tree-filled pedestrian pathway will link the Civic Hub and TriMet’s MAX Light Rail Service to a terraced entry plaza on Division and TriMet’s FX Bus Line.
